KINGSTON, Jamaica – The men’s 400m final on Sunday’s final day is set to be one of the best seen in years after Friday’s semi-finals at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association’s (JAAA) National Senior Championships at the National Stadium.
It took 45.68 seconds to get into the final, while 15 men ran under 46.00 seconds led by Jevaughn Powell’s personal best 44.90 seconds under the 45.88 seconds he ran two weeks ago.
Delano Kennedy also ran under 45.00 seconds for the first time, running 44.97 seconds, beating the 45.22 seconds he set on June 7, also at the stadium.
National record holder Rusheen McDonald has been in good form this season and ran a season’s best 45.18 seconds and Bovel McPherson ran 45.21 seconds.
Two-time champion Sean Bailey also advanced with 45.38 seconds, Zandrion Barnes (45.54 seconds) Shaemar Uter (45.65 seconds) and Deandre Watkin (45.68 seconds), also advanced.
