KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Clayton twins Tia and Tina, have thrown down the gauntlet after leading the qualifiers to the final of the women’s 100m at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association’s (JAAA) National Championship at the National Stadium on Friday evening.
In front of a packed grandstand, most of who came to pay homage to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the twins turned up the heat as Tia, the Olympic Games finalist eased to 10.86 seconds (0.8m/s) to win her heat, while Tina, the two-time World Under- 20 champion ran a lifetime best 10.93 seconds (0.2m/s) to win her heat.
Three-time defending champion Shericka Jackson was also in sparkling form with a season’s best 10.94 seconds (1.5m/s) to win her heat, while Fraser-Pryce booked her spot with 11.02 seconds, followed by Alana Reid, who also ran 11.02 seconds.
Jodean Williams (11.08 seconds) as well as Jonielle Smith and Ashanti Moore are also through.
