KINGSTON, Jamaica — Many-time champions Cornwall College, Old Harbour High, Mannings School and Bellefield all scored big wins to start their campaigns in the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition on Saturday.

Cornwall College beat Green Pond High 6-0 to take the lead in Zone A while Old Harbour High, Bellefield High and Mannings School all scored 7-0 wins over Tacius Golding High, Alston High and Petersfield High, respectively.

Also, last season’s beaten finalists, McGrath High, were winners, edging Charlemont High 1-0 in their Zone J game.

National Under-15 representative Carlondo Morris scored a hat-trick for Cornwall College as they scored their largest margin ever against Green Pond at home.

Nickane Brown gave Cornwall College the lead in the eighth minute and Morris got his first in the 42nd minute to make it 2-0 at halftime.

Mekhi Foster scored in the 59th minute to make the score 3-0. Shevaun Brown came off the bench to score the fourth goal in the 78th minute before Morris completed his hat-trick with goals in the 82nd and three minutes into time added.

Joshua Reynolds scored five goals to lead Old Harbour to their big win over Tacius Golding High with Demario Shirley and Brandon Matthews both scoring one each to top Zone J.

Lamar Dwyer also scored a hat trick to lead Bellefield High to their win after they had beaten Alston 9-0 last season.

Richard Roland, Lawade Pipper, Mark Reid and Javis McFarlane all scored one goal each.

At Jarrett Park, Kevin Hawthorne scored a double as Maldon High came from two goals down to edge St James High 3-2 in a Zone A game.

An own goal after 45 seconds and a goal in the fifth minute from Rory Smith staked St James High to an early lead but Maldon High pulled a goal back just before half time from Hawthorne to cut the deficit to one goal.

In the second half, Hawthorne equalised before Javaughn Anglin scored the winner.

Irwin High edged Herbert Morrison 2-1 in the other Zone A game.

The first upset came in Zone E where BB Coke beat the highly fancied Munro College 2-0 with Tevon Morris scoring both in the 17th and 83rd minutes.

This was BB Coke High’s first win over the former champions since the 2023 season and snapped a three-game losing skid against the former champions.

Former champions Rusea’s High and Frome Technical were also winners, beating Knockalva Technical 3-0 and Anchovy High 2-0, respectively, in Zone B.

Cambridge High also made a winning start, beating Green Island High in Zone B.

Port Antonio High clipped Titchfield High 3-2 at Carder Park with a hat-trick from Keadre Wilson in the 14th, 22nd and 73rd minutes.

Titchfield got two late goals— an own goals in the 85th and Twhan Briggs in time added.
