KINGSTON, Jamaica – Carey McLeod recorded 8.16m (1.0m/s) to retain his men’s long jump title at the JAAA National Senior Championship on Saturday at the National Stadium.
McLeod, the World Indoor championships bronze medalist last year, dominated the competition. He led from the second round and added a second jump over 8.00m in the fifth round to secure his place in the World Championships team later this year, having achieved the qualifying standard 8.27m earlier in the season.
Shawn-D Thompson was second with 7.84m (-0.3m/s) and Nikaoli Williams third with 7.82m (1.3m/s).
