Two confirmed dead in St Elizabeth crash

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Police have confirmed that two people died as a result of injuries they sustained in a two-vehicle crash on the Rocky Hill main road near Santa Cruz in St Elizabeth on Sunday.

A preliminary report from the police on Sunday night had said three people were feared dead.

However in an update, police named the victims as Barrington Hartley, 62, a resident of New York, USA and Camille Kennedy, 41, a resident of Ontario, Canada.

A police report said the crash happened about 5:50 pm and involved a 2017 red Toyota Allion motor car and a 2019 white Toyota Hiace.

Police said the Allion was heading towards Santa Cruz when, upon reaching Rocky Hill, the driver lost control and collided with the Hiace which was traveling in the opposite direction.

Six people from both vehicles were taken to hospital where Hartley and Kennedy succumbed.
Four others have been admitted for treatment.
