KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaicans are being advised to brace for continued severe weather conditions as a trough lingers across the island through Tuesday. The Meteorological Service of Jamaica says the system is expected to produce periods of showers and thunderstorms, especially across southern and northeastern parishes.
At the same time, a strong tropical depression now moving across the central Caribbean is entering a favourable environment for tropical cyclone development over the next day or two. Forecasters are monitoring the system closely as it could strengthen into a tropical depression or storm as it moves westward.
The public is urged to stay alert for further updates, particularly if the system develops and begins to influence local weather conditions. Fisherfolk and residents in flood-prone areas are being reminded to exercise caution as rainfall could become heavy at times.
