KINGSTON, Jamaica — Kingston Mayor Andrew Swaby on Sunday removed political signs, paraphernalia and draping from sections of the municipality and urged political leaders to remove any remaining materials.
The mayor said the action was necessary to restore public order and ensure municipal spaces were left clear.
The Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) had previously said it was considering the application of a fee for the display of political campaign material to assist with post-election clean-up efforts.
Election paraphernalia was to be removed by candidates 14 days after the election date. The general election was held on September 3, 2025.
