JCF promotes 45 officers to rank of superintendent

KINGSTON, Jamaica- The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has announced the promotion of 45 officers to the rank of superintendent.

The move, the JCF says, forms part of its wider transformation agenda aimed at strengthening leadership and advancing crime reduction strategies across the island.

According to the JCF, the promotions come at a time when the force is reporting notable progress in reducing violent crime.

Murders are down by 42 per cent as of August 27, compared with the same period in 2024.

Police Commissioner Dr Kevin Blake praised the officers for their service and commitment.

“We extend heartfelt congratulations to the 45 newly promoted superintendents. Your promotion is a testament to your individual achievement and the JCF’s commitment to developing strong leaders who can drive positive change and improve public safety,” he said.

The force described the milestone as both historic and timely, emphasising that strengthening its leadership ranks is crucial to sustaining public safety gains.

The JCF reaffirmed its commitment to building a modern, responsive, and effective police service, noting that the newly promoted superintendents will play a key role in shaping the next phase of its mission to serve and protect Jamaica.
