California–based reggae band Rebelution is one of the top-selling reggae acts in North America.
The band has released seven full-length studio albums to date, as well as dub and acoustic projects and a handful of EPs.
Jamaican singjay Rik Jam recently collaborated with Rebelution’s lead singer Eric Rachmany on a track titled Stereo, which is to be released on July 11.
“It was a real pleasure collaborating with an artiste like Eric Rachmany and I give thanks for the opportunity,” Rik Jam told the Jamaica Observer recently.
In 2017 Rebelution’s Falling Into Place was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Reggae Album.
Rik Jam completed his first headlining tour of the United States recently. The Stadium Gardens, St Andrew-raised recording artiste was supported by recording artiste Dalwayne, who was the opening act for all the shows.
“It’s been a great feeling to be able to headline on my first tour. It’s truly a groundbreaking experience and I look forward to more experiences like this in the near future,” said Rik Jam.
Some 30 shows were booked, including the Cali Roots 2025 Festival, Havana Reggae Festival, Austin Reggae Festival, as well as shows in Minneapolis, Boston, Rhode Island, and California.
Rik Jam, whose real name is Ronaldo Ricketts, shared that the experience of the tour taught him a lot.
“I learned that reggae music is alive, and we should appreciate it a lot more. The love that is shown by our supporters made me understand better that good music is still needed in the world now more than ever, that’s why the hard work and passion never fades,” Rik Jam explained.
Rik Jam performed songs including Journey, Beautiful, Caution, and Ready Fi Dem in his set on the shows.
A remix of Journey was recently released.
In his early days Rik Jam, who is originally from Fletcher’s Land in Kingston, joined the choir at his alma mater St Andrew Technical High, where he honed his musical and vocal chops.
