Three-way tie at top of the JPL

There is a three-way tie at the top of the Jamaica Premier League with Racing United, Portmore United and Montego Bay United level on 10 points after Sunday’s games.

Despite being held to a 0-0 draw by Dunbeholden United in the first game of a double header at Drewsland stadium, snapping their perfect start at three games, Racing took over the lead on goal-difference with plus seven to Portmore’s four and Montego Bay’s three.

Portmore beat Montego Bay 2-0 in the second game, handing the latter their first loss of the season. It was the first time in four games that either team have scored against the other.

Peter McGregor gave Portmore the lead in the 30th minute and Javier Brown came off the bench in the second half to secure the points when he scored in the 83rd minute.

Defending champions Cavalier snapped a two-game losing skid when they beat Treasure Beach FC 2-1 at Sabina Park and improved to fifth place in the table on seven points.

Christopher Ainsworth gave Cavalier the lead in the eighth minute before Jahiem Harris eqaualised for Treasure Beach FC in the 40th minute.

Daryl Massicot then scored the winner for Cavalier in the 61st minute.

In the other game played on Sunday, Tivoli Gardens and Molynes United played out a 1-1 draw at the Edward Seaga Complex, both coming off losses in their previous games.

An own goal in the 57th minute gave Molynes United the lead before Kavan Wilson drew Tivoli Gardens level when he scored in the 81st minute.
