Waterhouse hand champions Cavalier first loss of JPL season

KINGSTON, Jamaica —Waterhouse FC clipped defending champions Cavalier SC 1-0 in the second game of a Jamaica Premier League double- header played at stadium east.

Alexander Bicknel’s ninth minute goal, was the difference, a swerving shot from the right side that curled into the top far corner as goalkeeper Jeadine White could only look on.

Waterhouse FC’s first win over Cavalier SC since the 2022-23 season saw them move into fourth place, tied with third placed Racing United on six points.

This was Cavalier SC’s first loss of the season as they slumped to eighth place, tied with three other teams on four points.

In the first game, Anthony Nelson scored a first half double as Tivoli Gardens got their first win of the season, edging 10 man Spanish Town Police 2-1.

Nelson scored in the 15th minute and in time added at the end of the first half for Tivoli Gardens, while Anil Ferguson scored the promoted Spanish Town Police’s first ever goal in the Premier League, a well taken free-kick in the 52nd minute.

The St Catherine-based club was reduced to 10 players in the 83rd minute when Shaqueem Holness was sent off.
