MANCHESTER, Jamaica— Five people have been arrested and two illegal firearms seized during an ongoing operation in Manchester on Thursday.
Operations Officer for Manchester Deputy Superintendent Luhas Daniels said the seizures and arrests were made in the Mandeville and Williamsfield police areas.
Further information is that one of the firearms was seized in Greenvale and the other in Cumberland.
“The Manchester police has removed two illegal firearms and 17 rounds of 9mm cartridges from the streets of Manchester. Five persons were taken into custody in relation to the find. This is as a result of an ongoing criminal activity in the area,” said Daniels.
“Several targeted raids were conducted in which the finds were made. There is still an ongoing operation in the parish,” he added.
The operation follows three homicides last week in Manchester.
