Disc Jock and producer DJ Smurf has a busy schedule this Mother’s Day weekend.

On Saturday he will be in action at a Mother’s Day brunch at the Police Officers Club in St Andrew and on Sunday he heads to Old Harbour, St Catherine for an event called Star Mom.

Later this month, DJ Smurf will take patrons back in time to relive the hits of yesteryear at the Footloose retro party. In June, he’s booked for another retro party, Mello Vibes.

DJ Smurf, who showcases his musical artistry at weekly events such as Mature Mondays, Reggae Wi Say Tuesdays, Vintage Wednesdays, Thursdays at Waterfalls and Red Stripe Good Fridays at Tracks & Records, is gearing up for a busy production schedule for the summer.

He recently teamed up with veteran singer Richie Stephens for a cover of the 1988 hit ballad ‘So Much Better Now’.

“Richie is one of those artistes who is always doing all kinda different things. Him do reggae covers, lovers rock, dancehall and gospel. One day we were in the studio and we were going through some songs that he started working on and I said to him, da one deh bad yuh nuh. And he asked me if I wanted to produce it and mi say yeah. That’s how I got involved in producing ‘So Much Better Now’,” DJ Smurf explained.

He previously collaborated with Richie Stephens on songs including ‘Life Without You’ and ‘Stronger’, featuring Gentleman and Lady, which hit #1 on the New York Reggae charts a few years ago.

“I have a number of projects that were recently released including a single titled ‘No Plan B’ by Blaze Shell Shell. I’m also working on a dancehall project that will feature Delly Ranx, Khago and Vershon among other artistes, so that is in the pipeline,” DJ Smurf shared.
