Romeich Major (right), founder of Romeich Entertainment, pours a toast for Aidonia ahead of the artiste’s 20th anniversary concert on Saturday at Sabina Park.
After two decades of lyrical fire, chart-topping anthems, and undeniable influence in the dancehall space, Aidonia is bringing the celebration home. Following a sold-out concert at the UBS Arena in New York on May 3, the veteran deejay is set to headline the Kingston leg of his 20th anniversary celebrations this Saturday, and if the buzz on the streets and social media is any indication, it’s shaping up to be one for the history books.
Backed by powerhouse event producer Romeich Entertainment, and sponsored by premier cognac brand, Courvoisier, the concert is slated to be more than just another performance, but more so a tribute to the artiste’s legacy.
Speaking ahead of the show, Aidonia shared what the night means to him, and how he’s planning to connect with his day-one fans in the city that raised him.
“Basically it’s going to have the same vibe and high energy. However, the Jamaica performances are gonna be a bit different. Mi a kinda change it up, a different style of performance weh the people nuh get fi see from Aidonia over the years. Most of the time I perform, it’s for a set time space. However, fi the 20th, mi a perform fi the whole 20 years so you know seh it ago be different, definitely!” he shared.
Similar to the New York show, this leg of the celebrations, which takes place at Sabina Park, feature high-profile guest artistes, who will be touching the stage come May 10. Artistes such as Ding Dong, Skeng, Bounty Killer, Capleton, Valiant, DI Genius, RajahWild and Kraff are set to create an unforgettable night of lyricism — providing a thorough journey through the various dancehall eras.
“It’s not just about nostalgia, it’s about evolution,” Aidonia explained. “Yuh a go get the classic sound, but yuh also a go feel the new wave.”
For Romeich Entertainment, the event is both a production and a passion project.
“Aidonia is one of the pillars of modern dancehall,” said Romeich Major, founder of Romeich Entertainment. “When we were approached about being part of this moment, it was an easy yes. We’re not just producing a show, we’re honouring a journey.”
Romeich promises a top-tier production with world-class stage design, seamless flow, and tight security to ensure a safe, immersive experience for patrons.
“It’s not just about the music, it’s about the vibe, the culture, and showing how world-class Jamaican talent can be when it’s done right,” he added.
Stepping in to ensure the Kingston celebration is fully charged with great vibe and premium beverages is the iconic Courvoisier. As the lead sponsor for the highly anticipated event, the brand is bringing premium branding, and fantastic Courvoisier cocktails for each person above the legal drinking age to indulge in.
“At Courvoisier, we take pride in crafting exceptional experiences that harmonise luxury, culture, and celebrations. The collaboration with Aidonia offers a unique opportunity to commemorate a significant event, promising an unforgettable evening of artistry and premium quality music that embodies the essence of Courvoisier,” said Dominic Bell, communication manager, J Wray & Nephew Ltd. “Courvoisier will also have a hand in the entertainment at the show, presenting Aidonia’s performance.”
“Supporting iconic talents like Aidonia allows us to connect authentically with our consumers and play a meaningful role in honouring the milestones that shape Jamaican culture. This kind of collaboration signifies a shift toward more purposeful, culturally rooted partnerships in music sponsorships across Jamaica and the Caribbean,” Bell explained. “It’s about aligning with the stories, legacies, and impact of our local artistes. We see this as the future, deeper engagement with the creative community, amplifying local voices and co-creating experiences that resonate with our core consumers.”
