Arrest warrant for Mavado lifted

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Dancehall artiste David ‘Mavado’ Brooks can breathe a sigh of relief after a warrant that was issued for his arrest was dropped on Wednesday morning.

The entertainer, who returned to Jamaica on Tuesday night after almost a decade of being away, met with the police in the presence of his attorney to discuss a matter stemming from 2018 where he was wanted for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

“The St Andrew North police met with Mr David Brooks and his attorney, and based on the information at hand, and the circumstances— that matter has been closed,” Superintendent of Police Randy Sweeney said in a statement reaching Observer Online.

The warrant was reportedly issued on June 9, 2018 based on a complaint by Anthony Goulbourne.

Observer Online understands that the complaint was made by Goulbourne after he was arrested and charged for allegedly shooting at the entertainer.
