CGA 4-Ball Golf Championship takes centre stage

Team Jamaica celebrate wining the Caribbean Golf Association’s 4-Ball Championship in 2024 while taking home the Ambrose Gouthro Trophy for the fifth consecutive time. This year the Championship is being held in Jamaica for the first time, at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course in Montego Bay.

ST JAMES, Jamaica — The Caribbean Golf Association (CGA) Four-Ball Golf Championship got underway on Friday at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course, bringing together eight countries and 90 golfers for three days of competition.

Now in its sixth staging, the championship is being held in Jamaica for the first time. Participating nations include Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, St Lucia, Turks and Caicos Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and host country Jamaica.

The opening round was disrupted by heavy rains, forcing organisers to temporarily suspend play until conditions were deemed safe to continue. As of Friday afternoon, golfers were still on the course attempting to complete the first round.

Teams are competing for the Ambrose Gouthro Cup, while individual players will vie for category trophies across male, female, and age divisions. Each trophy is named after Caribbean golfers who have made significant contributions to the sport’s regional development.
