KINGSTON, Jamaica — Mark Golding will remain the president of the People’s National Party (PNP) following the official closure of nominations for the role at noon on Friday.
In addition, the PNP has announced that four individuals have been nominated for vice president positions. These include Mikael Phillips, Member of Parliament for Manchester Northwest; Ian Hayles, Member of Parliament for Westmoreland Western; Natalie Neita Garvey, Member of Parliament for St Catherine North Central; and Mayor Norman Scott, chairman of the St Catherine Municipal Corporation.
With sufficient nominations received for the available positions, the PNP, in a statement, said there will be no requirement to hold elections for these posts.
The party also expressed its appreciation to Comrade Senator Donna Scott Mottley, who opted not to seek re-election as vice president.
“Comrade Scott Mottley has served with distinction in the role over the last several years and played a pivotal part during the election campaign. The PNP acknowledges and thanks her for her outstanding service and commitment to the movement,” the PNP said.
The party is set to convene its two-day National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on October 4–5, to be followed by the annual regional conferences and the election of regional officers.
The calendar of activities will conclude with a one-day private session of the annual conference on November 30, 2025.
