MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Two people sustained injuries during a two-vehicle crash on the Winston Jones Highway near Marshall’s Pen in Mandeville Thursday morning.
Preliminary reports indicate that at approximately 7:49 am, two vehicles, a Honda Vezel motor car and a Honda Grace motor car, were travelling in opposite directions when the collision occurred.
Eyewitnesses claim that the Vezel was overtaking traffic when it collided with the Honda Grace. The impact caused the Vezel to go off-road and spin. A woman who was travelling in the Grace sustained serious injuries and was quickly transported to the hospital.
However, the driver of the Vezel was pinned inside his vehicle. A resident from Marshall’s Pen used a crowbar to open a jammed door to free the driver.
A nurse also assisted the injured driver.
He was transported to the hospital shortly after 8:00 am.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene to help clear the roadway.
