Prime Minister Andrew Holness has reaffirmed Jamaica’s long-standing relationship with Canada following a bilateral meeting with Canada’s new Prime Minister, Mark Carney.
In a post shared via Instagram, Holness said the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in security, regional issues, education and training.
“Moments ago, I had a bilateral meeting with Canada’s new Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Mark Carney. Our discussions were grounded in reinforcing the strong bonds between our two nations,” Holness wrote.
He added that “Canada and Jamaica share a long history of friendship, mutual respect and close cooperation” and said the country looks forward to advancing shared goals for sustainable development, prosperity and regional stability.
Carney, who is Canada’s 24th prime minister, gained the title earlier this year. He is the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.
