Jamaica just missed out on securing a place in the mixed 4x400m at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September after finishing fourth in their second round race on Sunday’s second day of the World Relays in Guangzhou, China.

With the top three in each of the two second round races earning a spot in the World Championships, the team of Javier Brown, Kelly-Ann Beckford, Delano Kennedy and Roniesha McGregor ran 3:14.42 minutes.

Spain ran a national record 3:12.55 minutes to win, followed by Germany- 3:13.35 minutes and China who also ran a national record 3:13.39 minutes.

Jamaica will now have to wait until the end of the qualifying period in August to know their fate. The time they ran on Sunday saw them tied for 12th with Colombia.
