KINGSTON, Jamaica —Portmore United clipped Jamaica Premier League leaders Mt Pleasant FA in their third-round game played at the Ferdie Neita Complex on Wednesday.
Ronaldo Robinson, who transferred from Harbour View in January, came off the bench to score in the 87th minute for Portmore United, who were scoring their first goal against the leaders this season after losing back-to-back games 2-0 and 1-0.
It was Mt Pleasant FA’s third loss of the season, but they still lead the points table with 68 points, 10 more than second-placed Arnett Gardens, who have played a game less.
Portmore United closed the gap on third-placed Montego Bay United to nine points.
Meanwhile, Anthony Nelson scored two early goals to set up a 3-0 win for Tivoli Gardens over Molynes United at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.
Nelson scored in the ninth and 12th minutes, and Lennox Russell got the third in the 74th minute as Tivoli Gardens snapped a three-game winless run and drew to within two points of seventh-placed Racing United, who are on 38 points.
