Man charged with 2023 murder of vendor in St James

ST JAMES, Jamaica— A man is facing murder charges after he allegedly fatally shot a vendor on Fostic Road in Montego Bay, St James on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

The deceased is 24-year-old Okeem Robinson of Burnt Savannah, St Elizabeth.

The man charged with Robinson’s death is 20-year-old Andeno Burnett, otherwise called ‘Deno’ of Kattie Lane in Johns Hall, St James. He was charged after being featured on the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s ‘Wanted Wednesday’ campaign.

Reports from the Montego Bay police are that about 2:45pm, Robinson was sitting on the roadway when he was pounced upon by Burnett, who pointed a gun at him.

A struggle reportedly ensued between the men and during the tussle Robinson was shot in the head.

Burnett then escaped on a motorcycle, police reports said.

The police were alerted and Robinson was assisted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Thursday, April 11 Burnett was arrested and taken into police custody where he was subsequently charged.

A court date is being finalised.
