So last night I was going home and I saw this crab...right. When I was younger I normally hunt these crabs during the crab season. Black Crab Season is about from late April to July.

Out of curiosity I went on the internet to do a research this crab and the name of this crab is "Gecarcinus ruricola" popularly referred to as the Jamaican Black Crab.

It is a species of terrestrial crab and is the most terrestrial of the Caribbean land crabs

Common names these crabs include the purple land crab, black land crab, red land crab,
and zombie crab.

To tell the difference between a male and female crab you need to look at the shape of the “apron”. If you look under the crab, there’s a flap with a distinct shape. This flap is referred to as the apron.

Male crabs have a long, pointy apron while the female crab have a much wider and rounded apron

Some crab-lovers say the female meat taste sweeter
